Back to nature - camping the old fashioned way
We are a traditional campsite that aims to offer a few luxuries and extras. We try to provide everything to make your stay with us enjoyable. Your suggestions and ideas to help us develop and grow are welcomed.
What we have is a lovely setting; an ideal location for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk, coast and countryside; a modern, warm and clean toilet and shower block; 7 electric hook ups; a friendly pub just up the road and a small reception area (The Provisions Place) with local produce and camping essentials available. Take a look at our Provisions List and feel free to pre-order. We can have your provisions ready for you on arrival, or perhaps choose to have a breakfast basket delivered to you in the morning.
Relaxed camping in a peaceful Suffolk village
We welcome 5 caravans or motor homes and up to 10 tents. The campsite is a grass field (with new hedging, a willow living fence and woodchip path) but this blank canvas provides us with the opportunity to create a warm, friendly, secluded environment for people to come and camp. Rather than a traditional open plan campsite, we aim to create a wildlife haven in which people stay. We have already planted native hedging, lavendar and some other plants, to provide fantastic habitats for wildlife and campers, and more will be planted this year.
To help create the peaceful feel, parking is slightly apart from the camping pitches. Cars only tow caravans on and off the site, making it safe and secure as well as quiet. A garden trolley is provided to transport your tents and other belongings. Cars are just a few metres away in a parking area. If this poses a problem for you, please let us know when you make a booking and we will make alternative arrangements.
Sustainable camping in style
Staying in a wildlife haven doesn’t mean you have to give up all your creature comforts. The site has a modern, stylish, clean and airy unisex toilet block with underfloor heating, wash facilities and showers. The toilets are flushed with harvested rain water and much of the electricity on the Green Haven site is generated by our field-mounted solar panels. The site has 7 electric hook ups (unfortunately not linked to our solar panels). In the future we hope to install a composting toilet.
In 2015, we installed a solar hot water system, so that the hot water for the showers can be heated without using electricity for much of the time. The showers work on a meter, to encourage campers to shower quickly to save water and ensure enough hot water for all. A 50p piece gives a 7 minute shower (enough time for two, if you can share)!
The Provisions Place
We have a small reception area with plenty of information about what to do in the locality. We also have local produce available for sale from here too. A local raw milk producer (Fen Farm Dairy) means that orders can be taken and fresh milk supplied and a nearby dairy (Marybelle) supplies us with yogurt and Alburgh Luxury Ice Cream supply the ice-creams. Just up the road is Valley Farm Vineyards, contact them for tours and buy wine to drink with your locally sourced barbecue! We sell apple juice, locally made preserves, eggs and a few other essential supplies. We allow campfires if they are raised off the ground. You can hire fire baskets and buy sacks of wood from us. We have a fridge-freezer for campers to use.
